Can't Buy Me Love Synopsis

Reluctant to marry into the Tibetan royal family, the wilful Princess CHIU YEUNG (Charmaine Sheh) has to find herself a husband as soon as possible. Owner of a gold store TING LOI-HEI (Susanna Kwan) recommends her second and third sons, KAM DOR-LUK (Moses Chan) and KAM DOR-SHAU (Raymond Wong) to the Princess, hoping that the royal marriage would bring them out of financial crisis and somehow save their family business.

Not wanting his brother to sacrifice for the family, DOR-LUK offers to marry the Princess himself. Shortly after the marriage, YEUNG begins to show her true self. She needs the KAMs to treat and respect her as a distinguished princess instead of a family member. Even the spiritual leader of the family Granny KAM (Lee Heung Kam) is not spared.

YEUNG’s handmaiden SZETO NGAN-PING (Fala Chen) is a haughty young woman who has no regard for anyone, not even the government matchmaker TING YAU-WAI (Kenneth Ma). The KAMs cannot put up with YEUNG anymore and decide ally and fight back. But to everyone’s surprise, NG SZ-TAK (Linda Chung), the most vigorous maid of the family takes YEUNG’s side and goes against the KAMs.

After back and forth bickering, LUK and YEUNG are on the verge of breaking up for the third time. The matter is drawn to the attention of the royal family and finally settled by Emperor TAIZONG. Marrying the Princess is supposed to bring LUK wealth and honour, but all that glitters is not always gold, especially when the bride is such a self-willed shrew.

Setting out on their quest for fame and fortune, three female TV stars of different backgrounds are resolved to achieve their dreams at any price. But after so many ups and downs in their acting careers, they finally come to discover the secret of true beauty.

Driven by sheer vanity, KO CHING MAN (Kate Tsui) takes part in a beauty pageant despite the strong opposition of her mother, a long-retired actress named CHEUNG LAI HUNG (Yuen King Tan), and leaps to stardom soon after winning the championship. Rising actress TONG HO YEE (Sharon Chan) feels threatened by MAN and decides to join another TV station to look for a breakthrough, which is not supported by her production assistant friend DEACON CHONG (Lai Lok Yi). Leading actress KEUNG CHIN FUNG (Ng Wing Mei) used to be a bitter rival of HUNG. Realizing that MAN's acting career is taking off at top speed, FUNG means to approach her as a mentor, through which she hopes to drag the girl into her moral downfall bit by bit. Desperate for everlasting beauty, FUNG injects herself with illegal substances in an attempt to slow the aging process. But things do not really go as planned and her face starts to change in shape. Born Rich Synopsis, Story, and Preview :
Banker, Cheuk Yat Yuen has a long lost brother, Cheuk Yat Ming. While trying to find him, Yat Yuen mistakenly identify con artist Sa Fu Loi as Yat Ming. Assuming Yat Ming's identity, Fu Loi manages to rise up to be one of the key players in the banking industry. This strange connection of brotherhood has blinded Yat Yuen and Fu Loi's real intentions.

Yat Yuen is kidnapped by a group of rioters overseas. This incident affected him dramatically and he is a changed man. His wife, Ho Tseuk Nin tries her best to comfort and console him but to no avail. To ease his pain, Yat Yuen returns to the arms of his former lover, Tung Chi Ling. Tseuk Nin is devastated when she learns of Yat Yuen and Chi Ling's affair.

Fu Loi enjoys being Yat Ming. This mistaken identity not only brings him financial status but also family warmth and a sweet taste or romance. Fu Loi finds himself falling for Yat Yuen's sister, Cheuk Yat Sum. Yat Sum is also attracted to Fu Loi but she keeps her emotions in check as she thought they are biological siblings. She chooses to remain with her long time admirer, Ko Tok Man.

Fu Loi is upset that Yat Sum rejects his love. He is not willing to give her up but he cannot reveal his true identity. Fu Loi is caught up in a dilemma where he must choose between love and fortune. he finally decides to choose fortune and embark on a journey of no return.
